Chapter two:
"Did you have fun at your friends house?" Cassandra asked when Jessica got home from her friends
house a couple of hours later. "I had fun, we went to the mall, and then we had a sleep over party."
Jessica replied, "That's good." Cassandra replied, as she nervously rang her hands. "My friend asked if she could spend the night next weekend." Jessica said as she took a seat on the black and white checkered sofa. "We'll have to discuss that with your father, although I'm sure he probably won't mind, not there's something important I've got to tell you." Cassandra replied, "What is it?" Jessica asked, "Well actually never mind, I think I ought to wait to tell when your dad gets back home."
Cassandra replied, stopping herself before she told Jessica the story. "Where is Dad anyway?"
Jessica asked, "He went to the store for some milk and bread." Cassandra replied, "And you can't tell me what you were going to tell me, if dad isn't here?" Jessica asked, "Exactly, for this piece of news I think that it would be best if your dad and I told you together." Cassandra replied, "You seem nervous, it's bad news, I know it, I just know it, you and dad are separated, aren't you?" Jessica asked nervously, Cassandra shook her head, she wished it were that simple. Because telling her that she and her father were separated was probably easier, than telling her that was adopted. "No, your dad and I
aren't getting separated ." Cassandra assured her.
"Alright, your mom and I need to tell you something." Jacob said, sometime later, after he took a seat
next to Cassandra on the sofa. Jessica looked at them curiously, the last time they'd talked with her together, was the time, they'd told her that her pet dog, had been dog napped when she was five. "What's going on?" Jessica asked as she looked from one parent to another. "First of all, we want you to know that we love you very much, and we hope that what we're about to tell you, won't change how you feel about us." Cassandra started nervously, "What is it?" Jessica asked, a confused expression crossed your face. "Do you want to tell her, or should I be the one to tell her?" Cassandra asked, "I'll tell her." Jacob replied, "Your mom and I adopted you when you were a new born," Jacob replied, much to Jessica's shock, she now felt completely lost. All these years she thought that this had been the family she'd been born into, and to find out otherwise was a disapoitment. Without uttering a single word, Jessica got up and made a beeline to her bedroom, where she stayed for the rest of the day.
